What is the ATSSA?

This page is to introduce you to the Automotive Transportation Services Superintendent's Association, or in short A.T.S.S.A. Mr. Edward Ashworth founded this organization in Toronto in 1939.

At present, there are eight branches of the A.T.S.S.A in Ontario. They are Toronto, Sudbury, Belleville, Hamilton, Kitchener-Waterloo, London, Windsor-Chatham and Ottawa.

The purpose of the A.T.S.S.A. is to provide information and expert advice by manufacturers, to people responsible for the maintenance of trucking fleets.

Membership in the A.T.S.S.A. is open to fleet superintendents and those with a primary interest in the maintenance and care of truck, trailer and heavy equipment fleets. Regular Membership is open to someone that works in the trade, Associate and Affiliate Membership is open to original equipment manufacturers and allied industry suppliers.

The membership meetings of the Ottawa A.T.S.S.A. are held on the 3rd Tuesday of each month excluding July and August. Each meeting begins with dinner and is followed with a presentation by the sponsor of the month. These interesting presentations provide information about products that the sponsors indorse. A question and answer period will conclude each presentation. The meetings run from 6:00 P.M. to approximately 9:30 - 10:00 P.M., with supper being served at 7:00 P.M.

In addition to our regular meeting, the Ottawa A.T.S.S.A. organizes a yearly golf tournament in June, bus trips to various manufacturing plants and an annual trade show.

Another very successful venture of the A.T.S.S.A. is the annual Canadian Fleet Maintenance Seminar (CFMS) held every May in Toronto. This event is popular because of the masses of valuable information through various seminars which are available to all participants.
